Help us show Billboard that progressive metal has a loud and supportive audience in the US in 2015, and you can score a free Symphony X decal like the one seen in the photo here (retail value $8)! But you have to do it TODAY and today only!
Here’s what you need to do:
1. Go to the record store/retail outlet of your choice and purchase Underworld on cd or vinyl.
2. Before leaving the store, take a photo of the cd/vinyl and your receipt. One cd/receipt per person, and this photo must be taken IN the store. *bonus* If you can get the cashier to pose for a second photo with you and your cd, we will send some SymX decals to the store as well, with our thanks for carrying our music!
3. Post the photo(s) in a public post on your choice of social media, with the following text:
“I helped Symphony X rock the Billboard charts with Underworld! @SymphonyX #SymphonyX #SymXUnderworld”
4. Send us an e-mail with a link to your post, and your name and postal address (if you include a cashier photo, please also let us know the name and location of the store); we’ll do the rest!
Fine print: US residents only. E-mails must be received no later than 11:59p PDT on July 29, 2015. Please allow 5-7 business days for your decal to arrive.
*Note* This giveaway is intended both to support record stores large and small, AND to encourage fans to help the band hit high on the Billboard charts in this vital first sales week (which ends tonight). No slight was intended to you kickass fans who preordered the cd, or bought it on/since release day; there will be other chances for you guys, and the decals will also be made available to everyone later on. Thank you to EVERYONE who has purchased Underworld!!!
The descent into the Underworld has begun; Underworld was released in Japan today, and is #2 in Metal on Amazon there! Greetings and thank you to our Japanese fans! We hope you love the record as much as we do!
Symphony X bassist Mike LePond reflects on the passing of Chris Squire, bassist of Yes, saying “Chris Squire wasn’t a big influence on me, but he was easily one of the best bassists I have ever heard. When I first heard “Roundabout”, I was blown away by his style. Even their poppier songs, like “Owner of a Lonely Heart”, had amazing bass lines. He was a true giant of the bass world.”
‘Without You’, the second single from our upcoming cd Underworld, was released today!
Guitarist Michael Romeo comments “’Without You’ is a bit mellower than the first single, ‘Nevermore’, with a big chorus and a sweeping feel. I don’t know if I would call the track a ballad, but it’s a little bit softer, not so much about riff, but more the acoustic and electric interplay. Those two are good single choices, if you will, because they represent what the record is: it’s heavy, but at the same time, there are some of these soaring melodic parts.”
Watch the fitting lyric video here:
The video (as well as the video for Nevermore) was created by Tommy Antonini, a videographer and guitarist from Pisa, Italy who currently lives in Livorno. You can see more of Tommy’s videos on his Facebook page.

We just learned that we’ve been included in Loudwire’s poll to determine the most anticipated new release for the month of July! Fan votes will ultimately determine who wins, but the victor scores more than just boasting rights and the satisfaction of coming out on top: if we win, Underworld will be named Loudwire’s New Release of the Month, and will also have a full feature posted about it.
You can vote once per hour, and we’ve created an easy-to-remember url – http://tinyurl.com/voteSymX – to make it easy to do so. Post that thing everywhere! Loudwire encouraged us to “rally our fanbase”, so consider yourselves rallied.. you guys can be really loud when you choose to be, so let’s see you use your powers for good, and show Loudwire how impressive SymX fans can be! \m/
